Case against Sikandar registered - Business Recorder

The capital police on Friday registered a case under Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) against Malik Sikandar a gun-toting man who used his wife and two children as human shield for over five hours and brought the federal capital to a complete standstill near the Parliament House on August 15. The city police registered the FIR against Sikandar and his wife under Section 6 of the ATA at Kohsar police station. Police sources said that police had recorded the statement of Sikandar's wife and started investigation from different angles.

When contacted, Spokesman of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) Dr Waseem Khawaja said that gunman Sikandar who sustained bullet injuries during operation had been taken off the ventilator and his condition was improving. "Sikandar is breathing well, but his condition is not yet out of danger. The gunman is trying to speak, but he is unable to speak and he is not in the position to record his statement," he said.

He said Sikandar received one bullet each in leg, chest and abdomen causing fracture in his ribs. He said Sikandar's wife was in consciousness and her condition was out of danger, adding she had also recorded her statement to police officials.
