ECP can consider army deployment in by-elections: Acting CEC - Business Recorder

imageLAHORE: Acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani has said that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) keeping in view the law and order situation can consider deployment of army troops in all sensitive areas during by-elections.

Talking to media persons after taking oath as the acting CEC here at Supreme Court (SC) Lahore registry on Saturday, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani said that army troops will be called in all sensitive areas during the bye-polls.

He was of the view that stern action will be taken on the spot if any one tried for rigging tries during the polls.

Justice Tassaduq vowed that by-polls event will be held transparent and free in order to restore confidence of all political parties across the country.
