8.25 pm Ceasefire violation by Pak continue

According to a newsflash by CNN-IBN, the ceasefire violations by Pakistan are continuing. The report says that the firing was reported from Kotha post of BSF in Samba sector near LoC and that the firing is still on.

4.10 pm: Pak summons Indian envoy over LoC killings

Pakistan has summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner on Monday over continous ceasefire violations by India.

Pakistan has also expressed concern over continous ceasefire violations by Indian BSF along the LoC.

1.45 pm: Army free to respond in appropriate way, says Antony

The armed forces are free to appropriately respond to the developing situation at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, Defence Minister AK Antony said on Monday.

"The armed forces have freedom to respond to the developing situation there appropriately," Antony told reporters in Kochi. – IANS

11.35 am: Pak media says India resorted to unprovoked firing

Pakistan media on Monday reported that Indian army forces resorted to unprovoked firing and mortar shelling in Charikot sector killing a youth.

According to a report by Geo TV a mortar shell fired by India hit a house in Donga Gambhir, killing a youth, identified as Zubair. The report further states that India attacked Pakistan Rangers' checkpost in Sialkot sector in Nakial sector near Kotli.


9.35 am: Villagers in Poonch district refuse to come out of homes

A villager from Poonch district of Jammu Kashmir has told ANI that villagers are living in fear and have not stepped out of their houses fearing attacks.

According to the villager, the firing started at around 10 pm and went on till 6 am. Pakistan used heavy artillery including grenades many of which landed in fields.

"People in the area are scared to come out of their homes. India also retaliated…. firing occurred at several places like Nagarkot and Drug," he said.

An earlier report by Firstpost  showed how villagers living along the LoC feared that constant firing across the border could spark off a war.

9.15 am: Firing reported early Monday morning

Ceasefire violations along the Line of Control continue, with firing reported at 6 am on Monday morning.

ANI reports that medium machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades and other heavy weapons were used in the attack.

9.05 am: BJP to seek suspension of Question Hour to discuss LoC attacks

Main opposition party BJP on Monday will seek suspension of Question Hour in Parliament to discuss ceasefire violations along the Line of Control.

Last week, Parliament saw disruptions over the 5 August attack by Pakistani forces.


8.50 am: Pak attacks at least 13 Indian Army posts

On Sunday, Pakistan forces violated ceasefire agreements  in Mendhar area of Poonch. Ten Indian Army posts, including the ones in Langot, Forward Balakot and Dera Basi, came under fire at around 11.30 am.

Later in the day, Pakistan attacked Degwar area of Poonch, where three Indian Army posts – Noorkot, Nakarkot, Mumtaz – were targeted and a BSF jawan was injured, CNN-IBN reported. Read more here.

8.30 am: BSF jawan injured in 5 Aug attack dies

A BSF jawan, injured in cross-border firing in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district on 5 August, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

Head Constable Ram Niwas Meena, who was undergoing treatment at AIIMS since he was injured along the LoC with Pakistan died at 12:30 am due to multi-organ failure and excessive bleeding, doctors said. Read more here.
Less than a week after specialist forces of the Pakistan Army attacked India along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu Kashmir, Pakistan yet again violated ceasefire agreements and attacking at least 13 Indian Army posts.
